What is Flood coverage & does Kin offer it?

Your homeowners policy water damage coverage is not the same as flood coverage.

Flood = rising exterior water that enters the home.

Examples: Storm surge, hurricane, typhoon.

vs.

Water damage = source of damage originates inside the home.

Examples: Burst pipes, and water appliance leaks.

Kin does offer Flood coverage as an endorsement on your homeowners policy though.

Since Kin’s flood insurance is an endorsement on your homeowners policy, it means you only pay on a single deductible rather than two deductibles for separate homeowners and stand-alone flood policies. This can save you upfront cost when it comes to claim time.

We may be able to apply discounts to your Flood endorsement with an Elevation Certificate.

While Kin's Flood insurance is on the private market, it has been certified by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Our Flood coverage equals or exceeds that of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Some mortgages may require an NFIP-backed Flood carrier though, in which case you won’t be eligible for Flood through Kin.
